Number of Seats

Total no: of seats for the course is 25. 15% seats are available for NRI students.

Eligibility

	Sucessful completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination.from any board or university in India.
	Preference will be given to degree holders and to siblings and parents of children with Hearing Impairment.
	Preference will be given to 12th pass with training in Montessori/Kindergarten
	Minimum age for admission is 18 years as on 30-05-2008 .

Application Forms

	Application form and prospectus can be had from the Director National Institute of Speech and Hearing, Karimanal P O, Trivandrum-695 583 either in person or on request with self addressed Rs.10/- stamped envelope of size 30x15cm. Forms will be issued at a cost of Rs.100/- per application which may be paid in cash or Demand Draft in favour of Director, NISH, Trivandrum.
	Application form can be downloaded from the website www.nishindia .org in which case the application must be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs.100/- in favour of Director, NISH, Trivandrum

Submission of Application Forms

	Application in original duly filled and with the following certificates should reach the Director on or before4.30 pm on 27 June, 2008. Late applications will be summarily rejected.
	Photocopy of mark list of qualifying examination.
	Photocopies of the Degree certificate.
	Application sent by post should be registered with acknowledgement due. Application may also be submitted in person at the Institute.
	Application received after the due date and those not accompanied by required documents /details will not be considered. Candidates are advised not to enclose originals of any documents.

Mode of Slection

	Selection of the candidates will be made by the Board of NISH.
	Selection will be made on the basis of marks in the qualifying examinations.
	Candidates must produce originals of all documents at the time of the interview. Those who fail to produce the originals at the time of the interview will not be considered for admission.

Fees

	Tution Fee	Rs 12,500 (payable in two installments)
	Special Fee	Rs 3,000(payable at the time of admission)
	Caution Deposit (Refundable)	Rs 1,500(payable at the time of admission)
	Examination Fee	as specified by RCI

Conduct of Examinations

The admitted candidates will be evaluated continuously throughout the academic year. Apart from this there would be one mid term examination. The final examination would be conducted by the RCI.

Issue of Diploma

Successful candidates will be awarded a Diploma by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

Provisional Passing Certificate will be issued by the training centre/NISH to sucessful candidates.

Other Conditions

	Candidate selected for interview will be intimated by individual memo.
	If any information given in the application by the candidate is found to be false on verification at the time of the interview or even at a later stage the candidate will forfeit his/her claim for admission.
	Candidates called for the interview should report at the specified time with the originals of all the documents failing which he/she will forfeit his/her claim for admission. No change of date, time or venue of interview or extension of time for producing originals of documents will be allowed under any circumstances.
	No TA will be given for attending the interview.
	All candidates admitted to the Diploma Course in Special Education will have to abide by the rules and regulations issued for time to time by NISH.
		All students are requested to follow the directions of the staff in academic matters and general discipline must be strictly followed by all the students.
		Late entry to the classroom or laboratory will not be permitted.
		Leave of absence will be granted only on medical grounds. However, such leave will be considered only for the purpose of granting condonation of shortage of attendance

Boarding and Lodging

	Hostel facilities are not available at NISH and students will have to make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging.Any other details not specifically covered by these clauses will be decided by the undersigned and such decisions shall be final
